I read that the USN is also considering this ship design for frigates instead of the failed Litoral Combat ship things they’ve been building

They chose well.

It’s a fine ship, and will be in service for at least 40 years.

But it is slow.

Not suitable for service in the US Navy, when the Battle Group is transiting at 25 knots or better.

Currently the CVN and DDG Battle Groups we put together can sustain 25-30 knots for at least 1,000 miles. All together.

Yeah, that’s often a rough ride.

This ship has a weak power plant and would not be able to keep up.
