They are not fleeing persecution. They are economic migrants who don’t want to wait their turn to be a legal immigrant. Their own government is corrupt and their country is violent. Some want a job but others want welfare in the USA. It’s all about the money.

99% of them get a LOW PAYING job, AND sign up for welfare. That way, they live a decent lower middle class life while Americans go hungry, lose their jobs, become homeless, etc.or become tax poor subsidizing all this BS.
