A recent poll of 1500 adults conducted by The Economist and YouGov found that Congress as a whole has an approval rating of a dismal 14%, with Democratic Party elected officials having an approval rating of 31% and Republican Party elected officials weighing in at 32% approval by those who participated in the sample.

The poll was conducted October 14-16th. "Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the way that the United States Congress is handling its job?" TheEconomist/YouGov asked. 3% said they "strongly" approved while 11% said they "somewhat "approved. By comparison, 19% said they "somewhat" disapprove and 35% said they "strongly disapprove."

Along party lines, the poll asked, "Do you have a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the following groups in Congress?" 10% of those polled said they had a "very favorable" opinion of Democrats and 21% said they had a "somewhat" favorable opinion. Likewise, just 9% of those polled had a "very favorable" opinion of Republicans but 23% said they found the party "somewhat favorable."

Both parties in Congress were found to be "somewhat" or "very" unfavorable by 51%. But, it should be noted that When asked about the Democratic Party vs. the Republican Party as a whole, more voters approved of the Democrats.

President Trump, however, has an approval rating of 41% with a disapproval rating of 48%. Another interesting aspect of the poll is that 50% of Americans believe that President Trump is a "somewhat" or "very" strong leader while the other 50% find him to be a "somewhat" or "very" weak leader.

No wonder they (the Democrats) are so confident.

The problem is that while people hate Congress, they kinda like their own Congressman. So the same bums get elected again and again.

Every congressional hearing I saw this year raised my blood pressure. It is staggering to see the endless parade of low IQ idiots strutting for the cameras.

The reason I don’t do surveys or polls is the folks running them usually already know what they want the results to be and tailor the questions to accomplish that.

Wonder what the popularity value is for AG Keebler Elf.

I expect the next Senate to be confirming a new AG.

Several Senators have made statements that Sessions might be moving on (maybe he will take his old Senate seat back).

I have heard no Republican Senators say anything like they used to, to deter the President from firing him. I guess that an arrangement has been made for a graceful transition after the midterms, which is a customary point for some turnover.

It is best to clear the decks of the Mueller team, before the 2020 campaign starts in earnest - they will just abuse their powers to spy on the campaign for the Democrats if they are left in place.

These poll ratings reflect a lot of bashing by the democrats, the media and even FR.

Actually this Congress, even with the obstructionist Dems, has accomplished quite a bit. The majority has backed the President and passed most everything he asked. The big exception, of course, is failure to take out Obama care. We need to do a better job giving credit where credit is due.

I was polled once during the W Bush administration.

Halfway through the poll I noticed they were asking some questions a second, or third, time in a slightly different way engineered to reduce the Presidents approval number down.
I told the caller she had asked me many of the same questions with different wording. “Sir, I just ask the questions they give me.”
Okay.

When the poll was over I said, using my best Andy Griffith voice, “Well I’ll be! If I didn’t know better I would think y’all are trying to make the President look bad. Y’all wouldn’t do that now would you.”
I haven’t been bothered by pollsters since.

I may be uneducated but I ain’t stupit.
