FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ PRAYER ~ 21 October 2018
Serving The Best Troops and Veterans In The World !! | The Canteen Crew

PRAYER

Dear Lord,

As we offer You thanks and praise, we realize how important it is to stay prepared for all the surprises in life. Daily, so many things catch us off guard, though they seem to happen over and over again. Would life be easier if we could begin the day with, "This is a drill. This is a drill"? Would we be any more prepared if there were drills for the many personal challenges we respond to daily?

Besides a "general quarters" for missile hits, we'd prepare to take hits for all the mistakes we're bound to make in the course of a day. In addition to handling major fuel oil leaks, we'd be trained to stop major gossip leaks before they have a chance to hurt our shipmates' reputations. With drills for day-to-day life scenarios, not only would we be prepared to fight "Class Charlie" fires, but through regular drilling we'd learn to extinguish classroom behavior which too often alienates those who are young and new to our crew.

Since we find ourselves in need of greater help, we call out to You, Lord, over the sound-powered phone of prayer. Surely Your throne is the Damage Control Central, where You plot our lives and note our dilemmas. We confess that we have crossed the secondary and even the primary boundaries You set to protect us. Therefore, we flee to Your repair locker for grace and mercy. Lord, patch us up, revive us, and restore us. Keep us fit to serve You with renewed strength and ready to take on each new day. In Your strong name we pray. Amen

CDR David D. Schilling, CHC, USN

Howdy, Kathy.

Hope you’ve had a good day.

It was an ugly day here. Chilly, damp, windy, and it was very foggy at the museum. The weather made for a slow day as far as visitors went so we got caught up on housecleaning.

The sky has cleared now but it was a dreary, chilly day here. We might get our first frost tonight. BRRRR

There was pea-soup fog on the mountain tops all morning and not many people were out today. I didn’t do any guiding today, just got some cleaning done that we haven’t had time for the past few weekends. We only had 4 couples come in and the other three folks who were there took care of them.

Just being there made it a good day though. Only four more weekends until we close for the winter. :-(

Howdy, PRO.

Have your favorite teams been winning today?

I hope your son had a great birthday. Did you let him beat you in all the rounds of video games? LOL

Hey radu!

My fav team won today and I'm watching a late game pulling for another Washington team.

Son and I had a great time last night. I gave him some ammo for one of his guns and another video game as his presents, LOL.

Wassup with you and the kittehs?

Thanks Kathy! Yes I did. Went and saw a friend and he put winter tires on my truck.
Spent so much time with him I had little time to do any work.
Alls good!

But...but....we didn’t want this much cool yet. LOL!
It really wasn’t too bad down here but was quite unpleasant on the mountain. The thick fog made it damp and the wind shoved the damp right through clothing.

It was warmer and less windy here at the farm but still pretty cool.

It’ll warm back up to comfy levels Monday through the rest of the week. Just have to get through this cold snap first.

A slow day at the museum due to the crummy weather but it was still a good day. Looking forward to next Sat. to see what wagons are coming up from Tupelo right now. A few of the guys went down to get more stuff and MIGHT be at the museum, off-loading, by now. No idea what else they’re bringing back in crates.

Sounds like you’ve had a great weekend so far.

And it sounds like a trip to the shooting range will be in the near future. LOL

Just kicking back and relaxing this evening, watching a little TV. The kittehs are quiet for the time being but who knows how long that will last? 8-0

Most likely the crates will go into the shop building with all the others that are stacked in there. If there’s anything they want put out on display right away, it’ll be packed in one crate and set inside the museum. The rest can be sorted through over the winter while the museum’s closed and there aren’t constant interruptions. We also need to rearrange everything to make room for more stuff. Can’t do that while people are milling around.

The wagons are in there now, I’d say, based on the timing of the trip I went on with them. I’m still not sure how many Mr. Creely is sending up here but room has been made for several more besides what’s there already.

I’d just gotten involved right before they closed last winter and wasn’t called upon to help. I’ll get called upon plenty this winter so won’t have to suffer the long wait til spring. Yay!

I’m glad you’ll get the chance to go up there all winter...unless it’s icy and dangerous, of course. It will probably keep you pretty busy with all the stuff they’ve been bringing up from the south.

Are y’all expecting it to stay cold from now on? It has warmed up a bit here. It’s 57 now and got up into the low 60s. We had a chance to wrap that carrier with plastic sheeting. I think it rattles just enough to spook the kittens right now, but hopefully they’ll see that it’s warm and dry.

I am going to try to get them to the vet this week. At least as many as I can entice into the other sturdier carrier with food. Wish me luck.

There won’t be a regular schedule to go up there during winter. Just when there’s something going on I can help with. The nice thing is it won’t be months away like it was last winter. That drove me up the walls. LOL

I definitely won’t go up if the roads are slick. I don’t go anywhere when they’re bad.

No, it won’t stay cold. Tomorrow will be right chilly, then they say we’ll have 60s from Monday through Saturday.
Based on tonight’s weather report we should be ok regarding frost. The advisory is just north of us.
But is the wind ever cranked up right now! I thought I heard rain a couple of minutes ago but it was the wind whipping the tree leaves.

You know I wish you luck getting those lil girlies to the vet! It’s overdue. One good thing is after being in the bathroom and getting more attention for a few days, they should be a lot tamer. :-)
