F. Chuck Todd leads with:

Dems take over...we've got data that supports that.

Republicans hold: we've got data that supports that too.

THOUGHT BUBBLE: We don't have an F'N clue, but we'll interpret it the way we want to see it...which is: Trump loses !

When you have Graham and Rubio demanding that the CP be removed. Obviously, that is part of the agenda being pushed by someone within the Kingdom. Graham is already blaming the CP.

The entire scenario makes no sense. If the CP wanted to assassinate Khashoggi, he could have done it without any association with the Kingdom. It sounds like the CP is being setup. The question is by whom.

Exactly we do need far more info than we have so far the best explanation I have seen is here:

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-14/did-saudis-cia-fear-khashoggi-911-bombshell

The apparent abduction and murder last week of Jamal Khashoggi seems such an astoundingly desperate move by the Saudi rulers. More evidence is emerging from Turkish sources that the journalist was indeed lured to the consulate in Istanbul where he was killed by a 15-member hit squad.

Reports are saying that the alleged assassination was ordered at the highest level of the Saudi royal court, which implicates Crown Prince MBS. Why would the Saudi rulers order such a heinous act, which would inevitably lead to acute political problems, as we are seeing in the fallout from governments and media coverage around the world?

Over the past year, the House of Saud had been appealing to Khashoggi to return to Riyadh and resume his services as a media advisor to the royal court. He declined, fearing that something more sinister was afoot.

When Khashoggi turned up in Istanbul to collect a divorce document from the Saudi consulate on September 28, it appears that the House of Saud decided to nab him. He was told to return to the consulate on October 2. On that same day, the 15-member group arrived from Riyadh on two private Gulfstream jets for the mission to kill him.

Official Saudi claims stretch credulity. They say Khashoggi left the consulate building unharmed by a backdoor, although they won’t provide CCTV images to prove that. The Turks say their own CCTV facilities monitoring the front and back of the Saudi consulate show that Khashoggi did not leave the premises. The Turks seem confident of their claim he was murdered inside the building, his remains dismembered and removed in diplomatic vehicles.

The two private jets left the same day from Istanbul with the 15 Saudis onboard to return to Riyadh, via Cairo and Dubai. To carry out such a reckless act, the Saudis must have been alarmed by Khashoggi’s critical commentaries appearing in the Washington Post.

The columns appeared to be delivering more and more damaging insights into the regime under Crown Prince MBS. The Washington Post this week is reporting that US intelligence sources knew from telecom intercepts that the Saudis were planning to abduct Khashoggi. That implicates the House of Saud in a dastardly premeditated act of murder.

But furthermore this same disclosure could also, unwittingly, implicate US intelligence. If the latter knew of a malicious intent towards Khashoggi, why didn’t US agents warn him about going to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul? Surely, he could have obtained the same personal documents from the Saudi embassy in Washington DC, a country where he was residing and would have been safer.

Jamal Khashoggi may have known too many dark secrets about US and Saudi intel collusion, primarily related to the 9/11 terror incidents. And with his increasing volubility as a critical journalist in a prominent American news outlet, it may have been time to silence him. The Saudis as hitmen, the American CIA as facilitators.

..................................

MBS would have been 15 years old during 911 to think that he has any jeopardy in the fiasco would be insane. But, the older Saudis, the old kingdom has all kinds of jeopardy if the truth gets out.Could this be who took out Jamal? Even accidentally, as they claim through enhanced interrogation due to choking (Saudi style evidently).Could well be,its my guess.

Anyone who knows the history of the Saudi Royal Family realizes that the internecine warfare within the ruling family is complicated and unknowable outside the family. Assassination and other means have been used before to determine succession. MBS has made many enemies. This all smacks of a framing of MBS to remove him. I suspect it will be successful. It will satisfy all the critics in the US and provide the necessary cover to maintain our existing bilateral relationship. MBS will be the scapegoat—as planned.

Lane upset it took Trump so long to come out against the Sauidis.

The Khashoggi incident is just another weapon to use against Trump. And as for the rest like Newt and Graham, it is about phony moralizing and possible pressure from the Saudi lobby to get rid of the CP.

Again, this reminds me of the Carter human rights campaign that greased the skids for the removal of the Shah. The real test should be our own strategic national interests. We deal with corrupt, tyrannical dictators around the world. It is not a choice between good and evil, but rather the lesser of two evils.

That's a good account of what happened. My guess is however that MBS's relationship with Trump and Israel which is so key to success by all in the region will overcome the bias within the kingdom of those who want to take out MBS.

Money and power usually rule the day.The Saudis may not have infinite oil reserves and they need the leadership capabilities of an MBS. No one else is even close to what he can do.

I see him surviving that hit on him.

..................

Some black woman supposedly in charge at the WaPOst doing a crybaby chat about how all journalists are in danger now if they have an opinion that is not in favor.blah blah blah.

She forgot to mention however Jamal's history which is not important it's everything.

Driveby journalism at it's finest hour leaving out all the important facts about the situation.

Somehow and in some way,I see the hand of Brennan in this killing. His hatred of this POTUS is boundless and I think he lives his life thinking up ways to harm him and his agenda for America.
You are right that there is no much more to this story.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest supplier of exportable oil and has the greatest proven reserves of exportable oil. The global economy is dependent on the continued flow of oil from the Kingdom. And we want a regime friendly to the US in charge.

2. Russia $93.3 billion

3. Iraq $61.5 billion

4. Canada $54 billion

Exactly the Saudis have been less than perfect ever since they were corrupted by 41 decades ago.Since then little has changed until Trump made deals with MBS.After that everything changed. Those who want to alter that are either cabal/deep state or brain dead.

As Clarice so eloquently put it this morning:

...because a fake journalist who was really a Muslim Brotherhood propagandist was killed on Saudi territory in Turkey.

I know that our press pals will stay mum on this, just as they ignored Obama's silence when journalists were slaughtered in Charlie Hedbo's offices in France or American journalist James Foley was beheaded.
