Tulsi is a Hindu reference ("Holy Basil", planted in front of the house by Hindus). Apparently, her European-American mother converted to Hinduism. Her father is a Catholic from American Samoa.
So she is not a real Indian, although she sometimes dresses like one:

This article (likely to be scrubbed from Google’s results soon, if a Gabbard candidacy shapes up) also goes on to say how Gabbard has cultivated very close ties to Nahrendra Modi’s Administration. She now identifies as part of the Gaudiya Vaishnavism Sect of Hinduism - the exact same as Modi. Almost like an agent of India, she advocates for increased Indian immigration, the re-write textbooks to whitewash Indian history, and is an apologist for Modi’s role in the Gujarat Massacre.
Kind of like young Bill Clinton went to Moscow as a student from Oxford, Tulsi Gabbard had a three week visit to India as a guest of the Government. Their Intelligence Services likely smile on her career from that point on.
Good grief. And she may run for President? Muslim Obama, and then this. I’m not getting warm fuzzies.
We lived in Hawaii for a few years. Those at the top in government were pretty out there and whacky.
