Who knows what forces they may unleash though, distant on the same general fault lines, say down into California.

Precisely my thoughts. Release a little stress here, maybe build up a little stress farther down the fault line.

As a California native, I’d say the Pacifc Northwest quakes seem to have far more potential for destruction. Scarey!

You are right, they aren’t really very big. I live in an earthquake-prone area. In an area with enforced building codes, there is probably very little if any damage.

The Cascadia subduction zone could easily generate an 8.0 quake. Thousands could die.
