CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Founder of Tanner's PAWS, Christie Speciale, who is charged with "hate crime" will appear in court on Tuesday, October 16, at 8:30 a.m.

Christie and her counsel Susan Chana Lask, Esq. will attend a press conference shortly after, at 10:00 a.m. at the Corning City Court, 12 Civic Center Plaza, Corning N.Y.

On September 22, Speciale was arrested after allegedly accusing an Amish vendor of animal abuse. She was originally charged with disorderly conduct, but Prosecutor Brooks Baker upgraded her charges to a hate crime.

Baker previously spoke out and said that "Speciale committed a hate crime because she said “Amish Puppy Mill” when “The Amish is a group defined by religion,” and “Targeting them in particular wanders into hate crime territory.”

Speciale's council replied to Baker's comments and said " No one targeted the Amish. Christie was discussing Puppy Mills, like we all do, including the HSUS and SPCA—so according to him we should all be in jail. These charges are false, and no law in the universe makes it a hate crime to say “Amish Puppy Mill," which incidentally not one filing says Christie said that.

So what crime did she commit with her hate?

Or are they saying that a human emotion is a crime in and of itself?

Is this satire? If not, what is the actual “crime” here that was supposedly motivated by hate?

I have to say, this seems a bit of an over reach. She’s a twit... but hate crime? I would hope the bar for that is higher.

Apparently, the bar is really low.

Is there even any evidence that the human emotion of “hate” was present in her daily bag of emotions when this conversation occurred?

Is all one needs to do to be charged with a hate crime is cite any individual human characteristic in conversation?

Because if that is the case, everyone on the Left should be charged with hate crimes all day long, because that is literally all they do... white male patriarchy, heteronormative blah, blah, blah... Pure hate.

Apparently the fact that she committed “animal abuse” while also referring to an “Amish puppy mill” constitutes a hate crime against the Amish.

This prosecutor needs to have his head handed to him.

The Amish Puppy Mills are a real thing. In Ohio Amish Country the dogs are mistreated and abused. Paws and other groups were buying the abused dogs and sending them to foster care, but this just caused the Amish to produced more puppies. The Amish are not good to their animals.

Amish are whack jobs. They do abuse their animals. I don’t know about Amish “puppy mills”, but they do abuse their horses. They treat them like tractors. Actually, many farmers treat their tractors better.

““When she saw a man pulling a small red wagon filled with six-week-old puppies, in poor condition, with a for sale sign she approached the man,” Lask said. “They were asking $450 per puppy and law prohibits selling dogs under eight weeks old.””

In case anyone wonders what she did. Remember she is the animal control officer.
