The safest route would take them to Tijuana, across the US border from San Diego. A large caravan that crossed Mexico in the spring -- and also drew ire from President Trump -- took more than 30 days to reach Tijuana from Tapachula, Mexico -- a city this caravan departed on Monday.
Right now the closest border crossing to this caravan would be between Matamoros, Mexico, and Brownsville, Texas, about 1,111 miles away from the group's current location. But heading that way is considered a more dangerous route.
To date, the caravan has traveled about 20 miles a day, largely on foot. If it continues at that rate, reaching Tijuana could take months, and reaching Matamoros could take weeks.

going to be a soggy trip.
Refugees don’t proudly carry flags of countries they’re fleeing from.
Okay, this adds a bit of perspective. The way the news is presenting this, you’d think these invaders will be here as early as this weekend. They have a long ways to go, like over a thousand miles! November 6? Unlikely, and definitely not walking. Give them several hundred buses and they could be to the border in a few days.
They also don’t wear Under Armour if they’re poor.
It's going to take more than tough talk to stop them. We've had decades of "tough talk". It's shaping up to be the same old sh*t.
A good start would be a directive that no one from Central America can be considered a refugee. Those countries are tourist destinations, not war zones. If someone shows up from those countries, they are rejected immediately and not allowed entry or further processing.
Yes, you picked up on that too? Under Armour! Unfriggin believable!
That’s what I figured. They know that they won’t get into Texas with that mob.
If the hurricane/tropical storm hits them, they may fly or row in faster than we thought.
If they’re so poor, they won’t be wearing underwear either.
It’s hot down there. Been there, in the jungle. You sweat!

the _daug,
I hope it is a long, soggy, and cold trip.
Especially, cold. I mean, frigid cold. Cold will cause people more misery than lack of food. Someone’s covering their food expense and they can be fed cheaply if forced to eat cheaply. Providing clothing is a much larger expense...
They did the same thing on the last “caravan”.
The media is fully aware of this and they are not reporting it. In fact, they are cooperating with fraud and actively participating in the manufacture and dissemination of the false narrative.
And just like last time, they well soon be riding trains north, packing them full inside, on top, and as many hanging on the sides as have the strength.
The people who say it will take weeks are just trying to lull you into complacency.
I am pretty sure, that is exactly what will happen.
CNN is trying to sell the lie that these people are walking and not getting outside help to arrive at the border before the elections
They are only walking for photo ops and two weeks is a good chunk of time. The organizers could speed them up or slow them down, depending on what they at the time determine to be most effective (or least counterproductive) for their cause.
Or, they might decide that steering them into a “humanitarian crisis” of an oncoming hurricane would be most sympathy=inducing at just the right time.
