I heard Pompeo's words on Laura Ingraham's show, and Pompeo seemed to be inviting the "caravan" in by asking them to apply for refugee status at the border. I'm not kidding. Pompeo was pretty much saying, "Line up. Everyone take a number!".

I see where you're coming from now. There's not much else he can say, though. He's the Secretary of State: the diplomat-in-chief. Leaders of allied nations are watching. If the Administration has no great surprises in store, then we can only try to help with the vote. I don't know of anything else that we can do.

Some nut was on the radio saying that this was Trump’s fault.

These “caravans” come all the time, but are fairly small. Trump mentioned this one, and while it started out small, Trump talking about it gave it free advertising, and so more and more folks are joining it.

I guess it is Trump’s money and food and clothing that is getting handed out to all of the invaders as well?

That's sort of twisted rhetoric on Pompeo's part - and he knows for the most part that it's not true.

What we do know is that the Mexican police made a show for the cameras (while in riot gear) that they were doing something. A quarter mile down the road, the "Caravan" (sounds like a friendly group of circus performers) crossed the river, and the Mexican police did nothing.

Later, the "Caravan" moved down a central road. The Mexican police talked to them, and then threw their riot shields in the back of a truck and simply drove away.

The Mexican police could set up roadblocks, and even this would hinder and deter the invaders. But they refuse to do even that.

So no, we don't "trust" Mexico's leaders. Politically, they don't want to be seen by world as helping President Trump or the "Bolillo" (white bread) Americans.
