The assembly line at the Warner Brothers musical division was producing more misses than hits in 1937. “September in the Rain” was originally placed in “Stars Over Broadway” but was cut. It finally appeared in “Melody for Two,” which like its predecessor failed at the box office. The song, however, took on a life of its own. This weekend is dedicated to a genuine classic.

James Melton sang it in the movie, but it was Guy who got the hit in 1937.
