So much for 'refuge.' Caravan army turns up its nose at Mexico's generous offer of asylum
americanthinker.com ^ | Monica Showalter

Migrants traveling in a caravan through southern Mexico have rejected a proposal by President Enrique Pena Nieto that they apply for refugee status in the country and obtain benefits.

Coordinators of the caravan read out the president’s plan called “You are at home.” Migrants shouted “Gracias!” but “No, we’re heading north!”

Activist Irineo Mujica of the Pueblo sin Fronteras group is supporting the migrants in the caravan. He told the group that 80 percent of those who apply for protective status would be rejected and deported.

*snip*

What's indisputable here is that weak as it is, and as concerned about its own security as it is, Mexico has issued a very, very generous offer to the migrants that they've turned up their noses at.

Which tells us one thing: That the migrant caravan isn't comprised of the sweet little daisies seeking asylum from violence that the press, the NGOs and the Catholic Church are portraying, but a group of hardcore pick-and-choose activists who will settle for nothing less than U.S. benefit packages, borders and U.S. rule of law, be damned. They want what they want, they want it for free and they want it on their own terms. They're political activists hellbent on teaching Trump a lesson and helping themselves to the U.S. taxpayer-paid goodies, not people fleeing violence and grateful for whatever they can get, the way real refugees, such as the fleeing Venezuelans, are. These mostly military-aged young men, often with criminal records, have a message to send, and they're happy to act as pawns for their NGO masters.

Then they have to go home. Asylum doesn’t work that way.

So what’s going to happen when they all show up at the border claiming asylum? Don’t we by law have to let them in?????

Soooo, why doesn't Mexico deport them all?

Let's see what happens. Mexico's offer was I'm sure prompted by behind-the-scenes actions Trump's team is taking. By rejecting an asylum offer this undercuts any legal standing they might have otherwise had under International law. They now have no legitimate reason to be in Mexico, much less the United States.

So they’re just plain immigrants, that need to submit their application and go home to wait, as egal immigrants before them did.

Take out their logistics.

A handful of sand in the fuel tanks of the trucks.

Lots of ways to do it.

“They now have no legitimate reason to be in Mexico, much less the United States.“

Yes. And we’ve heard how Mexico dealt with their trespassers in the past, per their immigration law. They illegally broke through Mexico’s southern border, Inbelieve.

Mexico’s move...

https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/asylum-united-states

What Is Asylum?
Asylum is a protection granted to foreign nationals already in the United States
or at the border who meet the international law definition of a “refugee.” The
United Nations 1951 Convention and 1967 Protocol define a refugee as a person
who is unable or unwilling to return to his or her home country, and cannot
obtain protection in that country, due to past persecution or a well-founded
fear of being persecuted in the future “on account of race, religion, nationality,
membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.” Congress
incorporated this definition into U.S. immigration law in the Refugee Act of 1980.

As a signatory to the 1967 Protocol, and through U.S. immigration law, the
United States has legal obligations to provide protection to those who qualify
as refugees. The Refugee Act established two paths to obtain refugee status—
either from abroad as a resettled refugee or in the United States as an
asylum seeker.

Make an agreement with Mexico, RIGHT NOW, for holding facilities on the Mexican side of the border, and never allow these invaders to set foot on US sol.

All the vetting necessary would be done, and the obvious fails sent back to their home country forthwith.

The borderline individuals would be held, together with their family units, until satisfactory histories could be worked up on them, or they proved to be phonies also. There may be a VERY small sliver who qualify for "refugee" status, but after Mexico has offered then asylum, and they refused, it is WAY much harder to make their case.
