There is a law against using your office for political purposes, for which at least officially both sides tend not to roll out indictments and the like that could affect elections within 60 days of an election.
So long as you run as a Democrat, you should be able to get away with it.
Seriously though, it's just bad optics to roll out indictments just before an election. I can't believe there are people here who actually think that would help Trump for the mid-terms.
Let's keep our eyes on the prize. Which is an increased majority for Trump to get his agenda passed in the second half of his first term.
