Free Speech is often misunderstood.
The king never cared if the people on the street talked poorly about him. No ruler really does.
It’s the media. And even in America, after the Revolutionary War, government officials were STILL placed in the printing offices to ensure that things were “truthful”.
Yes, this was in our America.
This is why the amendment was written. The first amendment is there to protect news printers, authors, artists and others who influence our society. Rulers don’t give a crap about what peons say. As long as the peon works the fields and provides the commonwealth they can say whatever they want.
But if someone important says something to get those people out of the fields, then a ruler pays attention. And usually shuts up the critic permanently.
It’s the influencers who are the focus of the freedom of speech.
I have ZERO “right” to say to you things of any topic or nature. I have no right to insult you, say racist crap or anything. I may have a god-given right of being able to move my lips and tongue to make sounds at things but there is no actual right there in the Constitution to do so.
The Second Amendment, of which I bring everything to, also does not give us a right to defend ourselves. That’s a god-given right, something we have a right to anywhere in the universe. This amendment tells the government how to behave in regards to arming us at their expense. Which they wholly have neglected and are derelict in .
Finally, everything in the Constitution is not aimed at us. It does not give us anything. It doesn’t even address us. It’s a rulebook for the government and it tells THEM how to behave. Not us. It tells the government what and how to support us and make us successful.
