I wouldn’t doubt in the least Schmidt was responsible for undermining Sarah Palin and trying to blame McCain’s loss on her, he’s a real jerk.
I guess you don’t remember, Schmidt actually publicly denounced and undermined Sarah Palin before the 08 election was over, while he was working for Sarah Palin/ the McCain Campaign and being directed by the Lame Duck Bush White House/Rove at the time!
