It was a nightmare.
I woke up to find her gasping for breath and her belly all swollen up.
The vet had given her Rimadyl two days before and it blew out her liver.
She filled up with fluid and “drowned”.
I had only minutes to hold her, cry and beg her not to leave me before she gasped her last breath.
Still sobbing, I got dressed and we went up the road to vote.
I felt like her death was a bad omen...and it was.
