I much prefer the Brazilian Embraer E175 and E190 planes. Same size, quiet and 2x2 configuration. More comfortable, no middle seat. Actually did a transcontinental on United, for $800 round trip with good meal. Felt like flying in the good ole days!!!
Forgot to add, $800 business class....you have to hunt for them, but if you search tickets on non main line craft on united (express) and American (Eagle), you get great business class deals. I swear you will never fly mainline again.
Worst airline seats I have ever had to sit in. My butt is numb for hours afterward.
“Good ventilation for the non-smokers.”
Obviously you weren’t one of the nonsmokers on those planes. The nonsmoking section was as effective as the non-chlorine section of your swimming pool.
We fly on Embraer aircraft on our regional trips in the West. They are very good aircraft.
That was kind of funny...
Are you old enough to remember when flying was really fun and stewardess were nice
And the food was great or at least good
Today its crazy and most flights are full
Population
Most young people dont want to drive
More businesses spread out
I usually just fly with one of my five children and of course Im not putting them in the back
I flew Nashville to LAX a few months ago and no meal.....peanuts and chips..First Class
Now thats sad
I think it was American
One "reliability" factor would be demonstrating routine one-wing landings on an airport runway... One-wing landings in other random places do not count...
“Sounds like you forgot to account for crossing the date line when scheduling your arrival time.”
No I didn’t.
At that time Delta flew to HK to LA. The plane was an L1011
The planned trip was:
HK>LA>Detroit>DFW(5 day lay-over)>Atlanta>Buffalo was the supposed route going. DFW was added to see relatives. It ended up HK>LA>Detroit(Missed flight stay overnight)>DFW (a day late)Then it got really bad.
DFW > Atlanta - diverted from Atlanta to Detroit (Overnight in Airport)
Detroit > Atlanta after a stop in Tennessee - 13 hours late missed connection overnight in Atlanta (Overnight stay again)
Atlanta > Buffalo (8 hours late)
My conference presentation was in the afternoon the previous day. The conference started three days before. By the time I arrived it was over and the organizers had left.
The return route was Buffalo>Detroit>LA>HK And that was awful as well
Why don’t they stagger the 2-3 rows to allow for more legroom?
Would lead to a zig-zag center aisle but would make each row far more comfortable.
Kill a bunch of people in an emergency ...
My wife worked for an airline when we moved to Kentucky from Seattle. That’s how we were able to find it. :)
Her father ran operations for one of the major airlines in one of the major cities, and then her brother followed suit in another city. Yeah. we remember. :)
Nowadays, commercial airliners are nothing more than flying buses.
It was a brand new plane five years ago. Airbus just bought it from Bombardier last year.
If it ain’t a Boeing, I ain’t going
Surprised your flight from Maryland to Detroit didn’t have a stopover in Atlanta
But short on qualified pilots and maintenance techs unfortunately
I was once in a group of people, some friends and some new acquaintances. I made some comment about airline pilots being glorified bus drivers.
And of course, one of the new guys was an airline pilot.
