A Mexican woman I know hails from Jalisco where her mother still lives. She fears for her mother’s safety and she won’t visit Jalisco because it is so unsafe. Her mother says “it’s not that bad,” but she tells her daughter of children abducted off the streets who are never seen again. It’s not a rare one-off event, but a common occurrence.
