the Islamic State is Wahabbi - the source of Wahabbi is Saudi Arabia. But the ultimate source is Islam. There will always be these senseless murders as long as Islam abounds.
President Sisi has asked the Egyptian clerics (whatever they call themselves) if it is possible for a “reformation” to take place in the Muslim world.
There have been those who gave lip service to that, but you are correct. As long as they base it on what was written, it will be a problem. (The persecution of the Alevi’s is based upon their advocation of eliminating this insanity)
Egyptians are not Arabs. Possibly 10% of Egypt is Christian. Some conversions are taking place. I know some.
It is still against the law.
Many of the people in Egypt know it is insane to do these Jihadi beheadings, rapes and mass slaughter. But the true believers still read that it’s so. Egyptian Muslims are not generally Wahabbi.
I do have a few Christian friends in Egypt. We’ve had this type of conversation. They are careful about it. Have also had this type of conversation with Syrian friends. Again only when it is signaled they want to discuss it. It is unsafe for them in many places.
