The teachers _don’t_ want an aggressive, inquisitive, question-asking, authority-challenging bunch of ‘students’ running around *nearly* out-of-control, so they dumb-down the hell out of them ... otherwise the students might actually press the teachers for something worthwhile in the way of an education. Easier for the lion-tamer maintain strict ‘order’ than to really ‘work’ with the animals ...
Easier to ‘beat them down’ AND then express maximum sympathy with them on their ‘victimhood’ status and viola - EASIER to control that way.

Watched 60 Minutes tonight.
First story, high velocity AR-15 Ammunition. Covered the victims of Mass Shootings and never ONCE mentioned the names of the Perpetrators.
Next Story, the Beto / Cruz Campaign. Guess who they treated like the next coming? They also made a point of Texas being half Conservative and half Progressive.
Maybe I’m just jaded, but the timing using the last Show before the Election reeks of an agenda. Maybe someone here will think I’m just paranoid.

Most do not understand your post as few have read the book. Your comment is most precise and correct. The book was about human nature devoid of the civilization and a descent into tribal instincts and survival. It was a brilliant book and a very dark novel.
The vernier of civilization is a very thin coating over tribal instincts. Oddly we see this today in “so called” modern politics. The left appeals to tribal instincts based on race and class.
Pray this vernier does not break. This vernier did break in the civil war. More men were lost than all our wars combined. Our population at that time was about 10% of what is today. Thus in those terms the losses to both North and South were ten times greater than all our later wars combined.
