Axl Rose: Guns N' Roses has told Trump not to play our music at his rallies
The Hill ^ | Nov 04, 2018 | Morgan Gstalter

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose tore into President Trump on Sunday night for playing their music at his political rallies after they formally requested him not to.

Rose took to Twitter to vent his frustrations about his music being played at Trump-associated events.

"Unfortunately the Trump campaign is using loopholes in the various venues’ blanket performance licenses which were not intended for such craven political purposes, without the songwriters’ consent," Rose wrote. "Can u say “shitbags?!”

Rose said that he thought it was "ironic" that Trump supporters were listening to "anti-Trump music" at his campaign rallies.

"But I don’t imagine a lot of ‘em really get that or care," he added.

Several musicians have instructed Trump not to use his songs during his rallies, including Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Twisted Sister, Elton John and members of Prince's estate.

Pharrell Williams reportedly sent Trump a cease and desist warning after his song, "Happy," was played at a rally just hours after the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

The rock icon, who is currently also the lead singer of AC/DC, has been a frequent critic of the president on social media.

He continued to call out the Trump administration, the majority of the Republicans in Congress and their donors, saying they are dong the nation a “disservice.”

“We have an individual in the WH that will say (and) do anything (without) regard for truth, ethics, morals, or empathy of any kind, who says what’s real is fake (and) what’s fake is real.”

All they have to do is pay a fee, sorry little dudes. It is like your side pushes full on bowing and scraping for homo and tran rights, and push back is considered illegal. Our side can pay to use your music, and you cannot stop us.

Sometimes I’m actually surprised at the entertainers that turn out to be complete p@$$ies.

Oh well, I just have to remember that there actually was a time when these people didn’t completely suck.

Ah yes, Dee Snyder endorsed Al Gore, a partisan hack who persecuted musicians and minimum wage record store clerks (who were repeatedly arrested for selling “obscene” material). Al Gore didn’t even care about the issue, it was something he and his wife could seize upon to reach the national stage in time for the 1988 Democrat primary.

He turned that into a 1992 VP nomination and 2000 presidential nomination.

He doesn’t care about “saving the planet” any more than he did about dope smoking, devil worship, or sexual references in music.

If the venue paid for the license, it’s not a loophole, it’s a contract.

overrated and he's a substitute for the singers of AC/DC not a replacement.

Right. Sure he wrote that. Axl has about a forty word vocabulary and couldn't string that many words together on a bet.

"Can u say “shitbags?!”

Now that he wrote that alright.

Do they have the right to do that? I'm surely no expert here but I thought that you could play someone’s performances as long as you paid them some kind of royalty.
