Full title: Kavanaugh report's biggest bombshells: Grassley probe reveals details behind mistaken identity claims, more

Weeks after Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation -- and the sexual assault allegations against him -- captured the country's attention, the Senate Judiciary Committee has released a massive report on those accusations that's largely flown under the radar in the run-up to the midterms.

But the 414-page document, authored by the Republican majority and released over the weekend, contains a number of key revelations.

Among them: the report summarizes a statement from a man who believes he may have been involved in an encounter with Christine Blasey Ford around the time of her claim of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. Some of this emerged during the Supreme Court confirmation process, but the report provides more details.

Ford was the key witness against Kavanaugh. In detail, she said Kavanaugh tried to remove her clothing during a high school party, but had trouble because she was wearing a bathing suit underneath them. She said she ran off when Kavanaugh friend Mark Judge jumped on top of them and they fell off the bed. Kavanaugh denied the accusation and, on Oct. 6, the Senate confirmed him to the Supreme Court.

~snip~

But the report gave details from the purported witness claiming exactly that scenario. The man told the investigators that when he was a 19-year-old college student, he had visited Washington over spring break and kissed a girl he believes was Kavanaugh’s accuser.

“He said that the kiss happened in the bedroom of a house which was about a 15-to-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro, that Dr. Ford was wearing a swimsuit under her clothing, and that the kissing ended when a friend jumped on them as a joke,” the report said.

Baloney, that was one of 150 drunk kisses in bedrooms for her. She simply lied about Cavanaugh. It was not an innocent mistake and I can’t believe the dumbasses in Congress cannot see that.

They MUST prosecute everyone involved who knew this was bull$hit.

This was the worst example of them just MAKING STUFF UP, and destroying a man’s life, just for political gain.

They will DO IT AGAIN if there are no consequences.

Since she went to a private all girls school they should have interviewed everyone in her brother’s all male private school. And every member of her father’s all male private golf club.

I pray every night that the ‘criminals within’ are prosecuted and PUNISHED. Without PUNISHMENT, there is no deterrent. This goes for all those who falsely accused Kavanaugh. PUNISHMENT is the only deterrent.

I'm surprised more of this was not made public. I guess many people felt it would be wrong, or bad optics, to challenge her so directly. But these two men came forward under penalty of perjury to say that they think they were the people described in the act. That takes a lot of courage. I know they said that she was the instigator but still, to put yourself in the firing line like that says a lot. Instead, it was hardly reported at all. When you consider that the accused vehemently denied it, and the accuser couldn't corroborate anything, to have two men who actually could corroborate much of it be ignored is astonishing.

But of course, it didn't fit the media or Ford's or the Democrat's narrative. This is one of the best examples of media bias you can find. The media knew the story of these two men but completely sealed it from coverage. If you didn't follow it closely in alternative media you wouldn't even know that these two men came forward. To me it was and should have been a big piece of the story. If you wanted to believe something happened to her, and saw this as a mystery, then these two men's stories provide large clues to unravel it.

But, their story unravels the only thing Ford was '100% sure' about - the identity of the accused. Thus they covered it up; there would be no outrage if the public knew that a different man actually stood up and said "it was me".

You’re absolutely right.

It’s a real shame that the Democrats behind this and the media that not only supported those Democrats but covered up evidence won’t be prosecuted along with the lying witnesses.

They should all wind up in a federal slammer.

Yeah, to me the DOJ referrals of Swetnick and Avenati are the biggest news in the report.

DOJ Referrals

The report also says that the committee has referred four people to the Justice Department for criminal investigation.

They are a Rhode Island man who recanted an allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman on a boat in Newport in 1985; Judy Munro Leighton, who claimed to have written an anonymous letter asserting Kavanaugh forced her to have oral sex; and Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick and her attorney Michael Avenati, who also represents the porn actress Stormy Daniels.

“...mistaken identity claims,.....”

There is no mistaken identity. This was a premeditated attempt to ruin a man’s reputation so as to keep the Supreme Court vacancy in play until after the election. And I do believe there is evidence to make a case. This Ford woman is a DNC activist and needs to be charged..

It is a shame and imo perhaps the perfect piece of evidence that shows the media’s lack of impartiality and indifference to journalistic ethics.

Here was a very compelling, national story. It took up weeks of news cycles. And there was an obvious interest by the public. It was a mystery; this woman with an accusation but no corroboration and a vehement denial by the accused. How none of the mainstream media had any inclination to follow these leads and report on the man who claims he was involved in a very similar incident with the same woman, in the same location, at about the same time; who described many of the same details (small party, small upstairs room, bathing suit, dogpile, etc) could be ignored is just amazing.

It is too big of a journalistic lapse to have been merely overlooked. The media all marched in lockstep to keep this from being reported. They surely knew about it as it was reported and in the congressional record. I can think of no reason to have not reported it other than bias. It was in large part corroboration of the story itself which in many ways would have served to protect Dr. Ford. The story itself was so empty without corroboration. Many people thought she may have had an experience but got the wrong guy. She was treated unfairly by the Democrats, but not as unfairly by Kavanaugh. This was a story that could have saved everyone a lot of trouble. But in so doing it would have undercut the Democrat’s agenda which was a calculated political scheme. The media showed they were completely in their pocket. The attack on Kavanaugh was part and parcel of their larger anti-Trump campaign, to show GOP/Trump as anti-woman, to serve as the backdrop for the bought and paid for protests that they hoped would result in political victory.

Then again perhaps this, like the phony Russia-Collusion story and a few others backfired on them big time and led to the crashing of the blue wave and, I hope, the rise of a red wave for the mid-terms. Lindsay Graham’s shining moment “y’all just want power and I hope you don’t get it” wouldn’t have happened. The Dems were patently unfair in the way they treated Kavanaugh but the media hype fed more anger on the other side than it helped their own. The media doesn’t seem to learn.

I'd like to see the email chain or listserv where this was all coordinated.

Mistaken identity or intentionally altering a real event to give the fictional story an air of realism?
