Sorry Sarah, not hijacked.
It is doing what it was designed to be. A propaganda machine to put down normal Americans. Make them feel ashamed of being who they are by making labeling their values, tastes and culture as dull and unappealing compared to the "vibrant and colorful" culture of the "other" who like to take it up the butt, destroy rather the create, commit crimes and do lots of drugs.
