A recent survey shows that a strong majority of Americans, 57%, oppose banning semi-automatic guns, specifically semi-automatic rifles that the media often label "assault rifles." A semi-automatic rifle (or pistol) is a gun that fires one bullet each time the trigger is pulled.

In the poll, Gallup asked, "Are you for or against a law which would make it illegal to manufacture, sell or possess semi-automatic guns, known as assault rifles?" Forty percent said they were "for" a ban and 57% said they were "against" a ban.

Well, Assault Rifles, which are selective fire rifles offering automatic or burst fire as well as single shot fire, ARE effectively banned.
A private citizen can’t buy an assault rifle that was made after 1986, has to have a tax stamp, etc.
But the Left, in pursuit of its goals, is torturing our language so badly that any semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine is now an “assault rifle.”

Didn’t know the Second Amendment was subject to majority rule.

Sorry. My sense of humor is seriously impaired these days, and it takes down my sarcasm detector with it.

That’s why they invented the term “assault weapon”.

Stoopid Liberals. Because they wanted to renew the AWB, I went out and bought all the parts and built my own.

Had they kept their traps shut, I probably never would have purchased one. So thanks to their antics, there is one more eeeevil black rifle in the world, that is for all practical purposes untraceable.

Just give it time. Every year those who would disarm us import tens or hundreds of thousands of socialist peasants who breed like rabbits at our expense. They know it’s a simple matter of running out the clock on us. One day this poll will be 75% anti-gun. Then what?

“...that is for all practical purposes untraceable.”

Unless you bought an 80% Lower Receiver, finished it, and failed to report it with it’s serial number, what you really have is a bag of repair parts for God knows what.....

A semi-automatic rifle (or pistol) is a gun that fires one bullet each time the trigger is pulled.

By that deffinition, a double action revolver is a semi-automatic.

One day this poll will be 75% anti-gun. Then what?

That's when the whole country gets to find out the true purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Wow an honest poll-But those 57% better not be voting in democrat, or we will have a ban on AR’s.

There is no “ban on AR’s”. There is the 2nd Amendment or there is war.
