Republicans seriously need to get a handle on local politics though.
As my friends in Latin America would say, All politics is loco.
Could not agree more. My choice was to vote for a moderate Democrat (Cheri Bustos, who now will be in a leadership position) or a Republican who the IL Republican party (if there is such a thign) wouldn’t even acknowledge because he spouts off with 9-11 Truther garbage and other conspiracy junk. YET he got 38% of the vote! That is purely protest votes, and if they’d nurture a young conservative who has a bit of Trumpishness, even blue state House seats could be won. My district is the only blue one in IL outside the Chicago area and that’s a shame, but we’ve got to have bettere quality candidates that are worth voting for, not just the ones who benefit from those of us who voted the straight R ticket to send a message.
