TOPEKA, Kan. -- It's the day after election day.
While many Kansas voters woke up this morning happy their candidate won, many also got out of bed, shaking their head, disappointed in last night's result.
But, one person who doesnt live in the Sunflower State, seems especially upset.
"Kansas is dead to me"
Conservative social and political commentator Ann Coulter tweeted her apparent dissatisfaction with the Sunflower State Tuesday evening. Now, the tweet just consisted of those five words and didn't say specifically why she was upset, she likely is referring to Kris Kobach's loss in the governor's race and Kevin Yoder losing the 3rd District Congressional seat.

I stand corrected. Thanks!
As a Kansan, I’m bracing for even higher taxes. We already pay too dang much.
We moved from OK to IA a couple of years ago. The R governor won re-election, but we now have a rat congresswoman. Ugh. She’s a big tax and spend liberal like all rats.
That’s what I was thinking, too. Farmers want their cheap labor and government subsidies. Very short-sighted of them.
Exactly. The national election was called a referendum on President Trump. It might have been but the elections in Kansas were definitely a referendum on Brownback.
At least, that sleaze ball Paul Davis lost.
ditto
She has been right on and this election proves it. We chose suicide and Paul Ryan helped.
Yeah, and shes told me how busted up she is about it.
I believe the TV ads that were non-stop of how so many Kansas Republicans could not support Kobach is what got him beat. Having lived all over the country and coming back to Kansas, I was alarmed at the liberal nature of thought in Johnson County and their ‘pious’ stance on being open-minded, tolerant and wanting to prove how tolerant. Personally, I don’t find many that will discuss the difficult things that only a political discussion will solve. The school funding was a joke as rich school districts sued for funding and a failure of a (state) Supreme Court followed through on their demands. Republicans not happy with the nominee(s) and education funding were the bludgeons used against them. Final note - school funding was put to a vote in many districts (over last two years) and people voted them down locally; after losing the vote, some districts participated in the lawsuit - disgusting.
Maybe she was pulling for Michigan State?
The KC suburbs, Lawrence and Manhattan, Wichita and of course Topeka are the problem.
"I always heard there were three kinds of sun in Kansas. Sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-britches."
I don't mean to kick Ted Cruz when he's down, but let me just note that he's Canadian, Heidi is way uglier than Melania, and his dad killed JFK.
What made her say such a thing? I was as mad as the next person during the Presidential election, but now I want his help, for America's sake.
Rural counties went for Kobach. The counties he lost are the ones where Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka, Emporia, Pittsbugh, Manhattan, and the KC suburbs are.
I just don’t get it, it’s over.
And the bottom line is we need Ted in Washington DC.
Can’t the Ted-bashers just be happy that he’s not POTUS?
Hard to believe a deep Red State like KS could be so dumb!
Are there 105 counties in Kansas? How big is Kansas? That’s a lot of gov’t.
I have lived in Kansas for 20 years. During that period, we have had 4 Republican Governors and 4 Democrat Governors. They tend to take turns. For most of that time, at least one district has been blue and occasionally two have been blue. When the Republicans took control of the Legislature and the Governors Mansion, they ended that nonsense through redistricting.
But KS3 wants to be a Democrat district. It is the Kansas City suburbs including Wyandotte County (Kansas City, KS). Yoder has been in office for 8 years and he has thrived by pretending to be a Republican. He behaves as a Democrat and that fits his district. The Trump Hater and the Suburban Women effect almost guaranteed that the District would go Democrat and the Democrat chose the perfect candidate: Minority Socialist woman. The same thing happened throughout the country last night. I have been saying for months that we had a problem with the suburbs only to be poo pooed by fellow Freepers. We will need to do something about that, not only in Kansas, but in every other state.
As for the Governor. It was the Democrats turn. This little quirk of Kansas was magnified by the Brownback screw ups. The Democrat Party self destructed a few years ago and the entire state turned red. It was the Republican’s turn to self destruct, and today we are back to the old normal: A Democrat Governor who will probably be replaced by a Republican before long and a Blue suburban district next to Kansas City. I don’t think that the Blue district will go away, it is here for the foreseeable future.
The original Kansas Republicans were Free Staters who came from New England. They were liberals when they moved here and their descendants are still largely liberal. Most have become Democrats, but some of them are still Republican, family tradition. Kansas has never been as Red as Coulter thinks we should be.
There was a measure recently to reduce the number of counties to 15. Needless to say it went nowhere.
