Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) is the projected winner in Montana, surviving a race that tightened in the final weeks amid heavy campaigning by President Trump and his eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr.

Tester, a third-generation farmer from north central Montana, ran on his record and did not invite any prominent Democratic politicians to campaign for him in an effort to keep the focus on him and his opponent, Matt Rosendale, a Maryland transplant who moved to the state in 2002.

Matt Rosendale, a Maryland transplant who moved to the state in 2002.

I find it bizarre somebody with that resume was the GOP nom in a place like MT. We should have done better here.

Where was the NSRC in this, and other, campaigns?

Isn’t getting Republicans elected to the Senate their job?

The only person I saw actively stumping in Montana was PDJT.

The libertarian pulled out and endorsed Rosendale but it was too late, too little and the lib still got enough votes to save Tester. The opposite happened in Arizona where the Green Party candidate pulled out and endorsed the Dem, but still got the votes that could have beaten McSally, so I guess it evened out.

400,000 registered voters in MT voted.

300,000 did not. Too busy in Montana to vote for Trump’s candidate?

Why did it take so long to count votes?
I suspect Tester’s minions were stuffing ballots.
I hate Tester.

College libs voted 40 percent more for dems last night.

Not all, but many 18 to 30 year olds need a beating or NEEDED one while growing up.

I went to a VERY liberal school. Only strengthened my resolve.

NOTHING can destroy what your parents taught you if they did a good job.

My old man died when I was 14 but I ALREADY had been taught what a dem was.

And it was ugly.

Well, they tried in Alabama in 2016 and a whole bunch of FReepers who thought they knew better told us otherwise....

He sure did... About a week ago, the libertarian suspended his campaign and gave his endorsement to Rosendale. Problem is, much of the early voting had already happened. Had there NOT been that infernal practice of voting early, people would've gone to the polls knowing there were only two on the ballot. As such, Rosendale would've likely pulled this out.

Dammit! Well 2 out of 3 on my hit list isn’t too bad (MO and ND). If I could conjure up a scandal to take one Senator down, it would this POS.

College towns.

The sooner we get a national voter card tied to the SS system the better.
No more duplicate votes for college kids and snow-birds.
No more votes after death.

When the SS number becomes inactive, the voter authentication number dies too.
