President Trump formally asked Vice President Mike Pence if he would be his 2020 running mate at the president’s first press conference since the 2018 midterm elections.

Pence nodded his head in agreement, sparking a round of applause from White House staffers present for the exchange.
“That was unexpected, but I feel very fine,” Trump added.
Trump selected Pence, who used to serve as Indiana’s governor before becoming vice president, as his running mate in July 2016.
Since then, Pence has become one of the president’s most ardent supporters on the campaign trail and in the White House.
Trump’s formal announcement of Pence as his running mate also comes as Democrats, fresh off the midterm elections, are looking at their prospects.

ABC reported this as being similar to a gay marriage proposal.
It was one of the most hostile press conferences I’ve ever seen.

And he almost came down off the podium yesterday...actually stepped away and came forward a little...when Jim Acosta was acting out. I truly believe he had a yuge desire to pop a knot in his head but realized at the last second that might be the right thing to do.

A clear vision for the future
I have great respect for Pence. I don’t know that he has what it is going to take to be POTUS in the 2020’s.
He will be in for a daily throat-slashing battle with the media and the Global Left. Part of me thinks he’s just too decent and nice a guy to take that on.
Haven't they learned by now, that trying to trap Mr. Trump into some type of commitment just backfires on them. Mr. Trump asked Pence on the spot to poke fun at the silliness of the question and make the question not become an issue, which was the goal of the reporter's question.
Sarah Sanders is becoming famous for using the phrase "I don't want to get ahead of.....meaning these are issues being discussed. We don't reveal our thoughts on issues being negotiated openly in public unless it serves our interest. When we have made a decision, we will let you know.
The Press then hears the decision and puts all of their spin on it, making it sound so bad, thus the term fakenews.
