That is a relatively new ship launched in 2000. Notice the phased array radar. The top naval ship in the Royal Norweigan navy is that frigate.

I watched some video on the Norwegian website. Looks like they tried to ground the vessel with tugboats.

“How do two ships so large collide at sea?”
The article says the collision happened in one of the western fjords, not open sea. Some of the Norwegian fjords are quite narrow and there’s not a lot of room for maneuverability. A fully loaded tanker takes about 2 miles to slow to a stop.

How do two ships so large collide at sea?You could ask our Navy, but the answer is likely classified.

How do two ships so large collide at sea? I'm thinking that the warships of the Norwegian Navy have affirmative action plans for women and minorities?

I guess they can’t be bothered to look out the bridge windows either.

In May 1918, R.M.S. Olympic (Titanic’s sister) rammed and sank a German U-boat, the only known merchantman vs. submersible incident.

Treat the warship like a beached whale. Tow it up on land and blow it up. Make it a party.

No good sailor relies only on GPS. While the tanker was lightly manned with collision alarms set for proximity, the watch on both ships should have seen each other.
I’m guessing there is something else here that we haven’t heard yet.

Reuters reported that the Equinor Sture oil shipment terminal, from where the oil tanker left, has been closed as a precautionary measure. ?
1. To make sure all the navigation markers and beacons are working correctly. Or did Johnny unplug the lights?
2. Lots of investigators are probably running around making normal operations impossible.

Aluminium - many warships have been AL since about 70s.
