When Dems said they thought Whitaker should recuse himself it sounded like a bad joke. Why would he, as you said.

And can you imagine the megatonnage of the temper blast from Trump if someone told him “Oh, Mr. President, Matt Whitaker just recused himself. Heard it on CNN.”
They would compare it to the first or second Hiroshima and Nagasaki blasts. No windows left in White House.

Schiff needs this desperately-——he has built his entire career on Mueller finding Russian collusion.

He can just refuse to provide them with anything as rosenweasel did to the Republicans.

They can subpoena it.

I’m thinking Trump is waiting on the Horowitz FISA report. The report should skewer Rosenweasel for signing off on an application based on the Steele Dossier, which he knew was total BS funded by Clinton. Whitaker will probably freeze Rosenweasel out of anything pertinent until he gets the axe.

He can ignore them like rosenweasel did. Part of an ongoing investigation and all that, you know.

Adam Schiff has his entire career wrapped up in finding Russian collusion. Schiff went on TV 227 times to push the fable.

Adam Schiff is ranking Democrat member on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Schiff hired as his office IT, one of the Awan clan.....now suspected of global spying.

Schiff’s Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence oversees all or part of the following executive branch departments and agencies:

Office of the Director of National Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Defense Intelligence Agency
Department of Defense
Department of Energy
Department of Homeland Security
Department of Justice
Department of State
Department of Treasury
Drug Enforcement Administration
Federal Bureau of Investigation
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
National Reconnaissance Office
National Security Agency
Office of Naval Intelligence
Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency
United States Army Intelligence and Security Command
United States Coast Guard Intelligence
Marine Corps Intelligence Activity

At no time did Cong Schiff advise any of these agencies that intel they provided was being viewed....perhaps sold abroad.... by Paki operatives.

Translation: he is NOT a pre-arranged member of the deep state, who is there to shackle Trump, as Sessions was.

"given that he has written opinion pieces in the past about the investigation, and is a friend and political ally of a witness."

Yet letting Hillary's friends and political allies handle her criminal investigation was just peachy. Heck, the Attorney General was having secret meetings with her husband - another friend, witness and longtime political ally.

“Why would he?”

I think the next move by the rats is to take this to a court and claim that because the AG recused himself, the new AG should follow the protocol and also recuse himself. I think an appeals court would agree and SCOTUS will overturn it.

Question is, would a court slap an injunction on the new AG from moving forward with getting involved in the probe?

Yeah, I can’t believe they let people with opinions hold any kind of government office.

;)

...about whether he should recuse from the Russia investigation, given that he has written opinion pieces in the past

Yeah, as soon as RBG recuses herself from SCOTUS cases regarding the executive branch.

Good! The lesson EVERYBODY should have leaned from the Kavanaugh hearings is if you stand your ground and tell the Left to cram it down their pieholes, they can’t do anything but b*tch.

They can subpoena it.

And Trump can engage them in a legal battle on Executive Privilege that will last for the rest of his term.

"I’m pretty surprised rosenweasel hasn’t been fired yet."

The day is still young.

Not surprised because he is likely to start prosecuting all of these crooks. That is why we hear shrill cries of Constitutional crisis.
