These fools and sports teams are missing a bet. Contract with Indian tribes to create and maintain “art”, using only pseudo-traditional and non-sacred “art”. Get the tribes to openly sponsor it, and pay them well, probably about the same as for non-Indian “art”.
Sports team could really go for the gold here, and on a small budget. Save some box seats for tribal leaders which they could either use or rent out.
And if any weiner-head gives the team a hard time about “cultural appropriation” or nonsense like that, ask the tribe to jump all over them about it (for a fee of course).
Anything is fair game. Team names from secular and inoffensive tribal words. Costume play designed by the tribe. All sorts of tribal themed concession products for fans.
None of it diminishes the tribe, but does give them a good revenue stream, and shows them to be good neighbors and friends.
Who cares what the Blackfeet think their lands are on the other side of the continental divide in Montana.
The Blackfeet always though of themselves as the master race of the Indian nations.
That's good news to hear.
these guys crack me up. Not to worry about cultural sensitivity towards their resident Lenin Statue, but so much concern over totums.
