What qualifications do you need to be AG? Actually none as long as the Senate confirms you. Ocasio-Cortez could be appointed ( God forbid ) if the Dems had the Presidency and the Senate.

Legal nuts and bolts are handled by the Deputy Attorney General, according to DOJ Operations Manual. The AG is a broad policy maker. AGs used to be little more than cronies of the president.
