“That does not sound like Ian to me at all. I don’t know what was going through his head when he wrote this.”

Maybe it’s a hoax. Or a hack.

Why do they keep happening? Because we emptied the asylums and let doped up crazies walk among us. A better question would be WHY DIDN’T THIS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, 60 YEARS AGO, WHEN SCHOOL BOYS HAD THEIR GUNS IN SCHOOL? If you voted for the liberals who emptied the asylums, drove God out of the public square, destroyed traditional morality and the Family THEN YOU ARE THE PROBLEM.

The mother of one of the dead railed against thoughts and prayers too and demanded gun control.

Lock up the loonies.

I have my doubts on PTSD being related or if the murderer even had it. He freaked out and violently attacked his track coach in high school. He served one tour in Afghanistan. What specifically happened which could cause PTSD? Or did he just have an ordinary tour and was already a borderline nutball? How is it that thousands of veterans that have PTSD don’t go on murderous rampages? Idiot reporters are smearing every veteran with this guy’s madness.

Heard all the usual suspects using this push their favorite gun control schemes, namely universal background checks and red flag laws. Both of which CA has. But never mind that, we need to do something!

Meanwhile how many people died in auto accidents across the country yesterday?

In order to get the drugs these shooters inevitably are on, they have to be seeing a psychiatrist. I’m left wondering exactly what’s being said or induced to the shooters while in the care of the psychiatrist.

Long was know to be mentally unstable, and almost was committed. How was he able to get his hands on a weapon in "gun controlled" Kalifornia?

One solution to reduce rampage shootings is to stop glorifying the shooters.

A main motivator for them is to go out in a blaze of media. They believe they will be come famous in their infamy.

One study estimated rampage killings could be reduced 30% simply by following a few rules to not glorify the killers.

Maybe this one really did happen because someone believed the democrats who keep saying that if we don’t take drastic, extraordinary measures, we’ll all be dead because of guns.

So maybe this crazy guy listened, and took heart, and said “you know, maybe one more mass shooting will finally knock sense into people, before it is too late”.

It wouldn’t be the first time a lefty thought that a few dead people now was worth it for the “greater good”.

Crazy/disturbed + 24 hour news cycle + social media has not been working out too well in my opinion. Maybe letting all the nuts know there are a lot more nuts out there who do evil nutty things created a cascade effect, where before many were content or forced to be nutty in isolation. Can’t see any way to change it now if that is the case though.

I don't care what was going through the murderers head. He was insane, the primary blame is his BUT the contributing blame for these deaths is on the doctors PC refusal to commit him and get him out of society! They cared more about his 'feelings' and not 'labeling' him so innocent people are dead.
PC BS puts insane people into society. Lock them up if they can't deal with normal life-for WHATEVER reason- lobotomize them, give them coloring books and crayons, make them harmless vegetables-I don't care. If they are dangerous and violent and unable to cope it should not be my worry!
So the crazy SOB's freedom to be crazy meant more than his victims lives...that's sick and evil. And to the gun control types I can only say-when the batshit SOB was dead the gun didn't kill anyone else, did it? People who want to eliminate inanimate objects haven't got the GUTS to eliminate crazy people who ARE the problem! The PC doctors in such cases should be charged as accessories and sued out of everything they own.

All the services are having to work harder to weed out the flakey recruits these days. This is because the pentagon currently estimates that 75% of Americans in the appropriate age group are ineligible to join any branch of the military because of obesity, drug use, failure to graduate from high school, criminal records, and mental or physical problems. Even with the amount of baby aching and attention seeking behaviors found in young people today, mental and emotional problems are still generally the easiest issue for applicants to conceal during the recruitment process.

There is a shrinking number of eligible people so you end up with a rising proportion of recruits suffering the hardest to detect problem. And largely because of their gung-ho reputation, the marines seem to attract the largest percentage of recruits with preexisting mental and emotional issues.

Some of them are weeded out during boot camp and beyond, but most of us understand that because of political correctness the training is not allowed to be quite what it once was. In the post Vietnam era I knew quite a few people who were dumped by the Marines for being crazy. But these days not so many and I suspect it is largely because instead of dumping people they make a greater effort to rehabilitate the mentally ill with counseling and “treatment”.

So I expect that we have not seen the last of this type of situation involving young military veterans. More restrictive gun control policies will have zero effect on preventing future incidents.

...but the only thing you people do after these shootings is ‘hopes and prayers’.. or ‘keep you in my thoughts’… every time…

That's exactly what my liberal friends on Facebook always say.

The evil MSM is portraying him as a dressed Marine, and not the disheveled, lost individual he became.

The MSM is the Country’s greatest threat.
