I did not see the skit, as I do not watch SNL (or any leftwing TV comedy shows). But from reading the transcript, it sounds like the “humor” they were going for was that it portrayed the Davidson “character” as extremely shallow and probably too stupid to vote. The fact that Crenshaw’s sacrifice was lost on him was maybe supposed to be what was funny.
I am old enough to remember when SNL was funny.
Said it before on other similar threads, but watching 1970s made episodes of “The Electric Company” (yes, even with Morgan Freeman in them) would be my preference over SNL.
Belushi, Aykroid, Carvey, Murphy, Hartman, et al, were real talents. The current crop can go to lib hell.
We actually DVRd SNL up until a few years ago. When we realized that we never ever watched the show, we stopped the DVRing. SNL used to skewer both sides of politics and it was usually funny. Now it is only Republican hate all the time. Where have you gone, Lorne Michaels? Funny used to be important to you.
The media is directly at fault for fomenting the extreme division in this country. When the shooting starts, they think they’ll get to talk about it on TV, when in fact, they will be among the primary targets.
SNL hasn’t been funny in a decade or more.
SNL ceased being funny and relatively innocent the day the Iranian hostages were released.
I used to watch SNL when it was funny...but I haven’t tuned in for about 40 years.
What where the scum doing tonight? Taking a victory lap?
You could pay me to watch but I’d need about $200 per skit.
