No it was the GOP national committee officials. I suspect they wanted to get the defendants of the Civil Rights lawsuit off without jail time or a crippling fine—and to give them some credit, they probably didn’t foresee this document would renew until the next century.

“..According to the article, it was Reagan....”

According the article...

Could have been anyone else, I doubt Reagan would have hamstrung us to the communists like that.

nice explanation!

“Democrats (in NJ, I believe) claimed that the GOP was disenfranchising minority voters in that state in some way, not remembering exactly how. Judge in that state created a consent decree that forbid the GOP from taking any actions that disenfranchised minority voters, but that decree was made to cover the entire GOP, not just the NJ GOP. Someone from the GOP in NJ stupidly went along with it and signed it, and that same judge made sure to re-certify that decree every time that action was needed, right up until his death a little while back. He was the only judge that could re-certify it, so upon his death, the decree came to an end. Pretty shady stuff, to say the least. “

I knew of the 1982 capitulation. I did not know it had ended. I bet the RINOpublicans are not happy to lose this excuse.

Did the commie judge die? He came out of retirement periodically just to re-sign it.

No: Trotskyist Neocons since c. 1948, when the whole world changed.

There is no GOP; it is the COP: Controlled Opposition Party.

They hated Goldwater, Reagan, Buchanan, and Trump. See a pattern?

Note: I think this only applied to the National party, not any State chapter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brennan_Center_for_Justice

It’s a “progressive” public-policy group, founded in 1992 and named after former Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan.

“Good God, Republicans are chumps.”

And that was during Reagan, who did some really dumb ass shit, but rarely fought the Democrats directly.

if you look at the timing of the consent decree was it signed in the months after Reagan was shot and relying on his cabinet and vice president. the cao’s of the time might explain away how it happened.

A Mittens precursor it looks like. RNC chair at the time, who I presume would be the one signing it, was from Utah. Richard Richards. Can barely find out anything much about him.

Correcting myself. Here’s the decree:

https://www.brennancenter.org/sites/default/files/legacy/Democracy/dnc.v.rnc/1982%20consent%20decree.pdf

Whose name is that for the RNC? It’s not typed, I don’t recognize it, and it’s not the name of any RNC chairman. Was this decree even legally binding for real? Who exactly signed this on behalf of the RNC?

Exactly. I am way past sick of all the vote fraud. Demrats have no morals—abortion lovers don’t have any trouble cheating in elections or anything else.

Richard Richards of Utah was RNC Chair during 1981-1983, followed by Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr. of Nevada.
