Republicans Missed Opportunities to Retain House Majority, Jim Jordan Says

‘If we’d handled the past two years differently, we would still be the majority party in the House’

Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan, who is running for minority leader, has a tough message for his colleagues: If House Republicans had done more to change Washington and deliver on their campaign promises, they would still be in the majority.

“This might be a tough pill to swallow, but I believe that if we’d handled the past two years differently, we would still be the majority party in the House of Representatives,” the Ohio Republican wrote in a dear colleague letter first obtained by Roll Call.

Jordan will run against California Rep. Kevin McCarthy for the top minority spot. His letter seemed to cast blame on the current leadership team, in which McCarthy has served as the No. 2 under Speaker Paul D. Ryan, for conducting “business as usual” the past two years instead of shaking up Washington after the voters elected President Donald Trump to do just that.

History of off year elections predicted the defeats but it did not have to be so bad.

Why was ryno allowed to stay after he announced he was not running. He was their fall guy, he stops Trump and not have to worry about getting reelected. Now they all play innocent, who me? Jordan voted for him same as the rest of them.

That’s because ones like Paul Ryan and John McCain wanted to protect that system for themselves and others.

I agree. It’s been so weird these last three years watching Trump literally teaching Republicans how to win, and watching them being along dragged kicking and screaming the whole way.

He’s right, if they had followed Trump’s lead and agenda, they would have not lost the House.
Their failure to repeal Obamacare and build the wall hurt them.

The Bush League Republicans did not want to push the Trump agenda, so they stonewalled and then quit en masse, causing many open seats.

“...‘If we’d handled the past two years differently, we would still be the majority party in the House’...”

Oh, it goes back much farther than two years. Repub performance, as the opposition party, has been near non-existent.

The Republican must come up with a unified approach to health care or the dems are going to use the lure of “free health care for all” to run the table in 2020.

And then it is very hard to fight Democrat vote fraud on such a massive scale. Americans need to demand that the policies that enable it are put to an end.

Wishing the best of luck to Rep Jordan in his bid to become minority leader. He’d be a good one.

McCarthy’s “Build the Wall Act” is a Total Act. He has no cred and his media blitz about this DOA Act is total BS.

We have had his number for years.

Will the Democrats lock the GOP out of some proceedings as they did over 8 years ago?

If they had moved towards Trump they would have done better, but Ryan was leading them right off the cliff.

Back in 2002, I suggested that nothing was going to be done about H1b outsourcing until we started outsourcing the Political Elite.
Based on the depth of the Swamp and the total inability of the Elite to do anything for The People, I think I was correct.

House loss is a loss. See no differences except not as far to try to climb back to 218.

History predicted , GOP seemed moved fated.

GOP Losses probably crawl into 30s
