Exactly what I was thinking. If Trump cut the funding it’s probably for good reason such as they never used the money to manage the forests in the first place. California and Jerky Brown only care about one thing: Illegal aliens and giving free healthcare to the entire world.
California probably routed it to a different use. California Environmentalists will not allow for brush clearance. You are supposed to do weed abatement around your home, but California refuses to clear out old brush on the floor of the forests.
I for one believe you are correct as most often public monies are diverted from their intended purpose by the Democrats for the ultimate purpose of buying votes from whomever they believe is relevant to their cause du jour. This is what has happened to the previous gas tax money we have been, and still are charged at the pump, along with the new taxes. Doesn’t go to fix the roads. Goes to the party to buy votes, or is diverted to welfare organizations to buy votes. Ultimately such theft by the Democrats is always for buying votes.
