I’m glad to hear he’s got security that REALLY is interested in HIS security.
The cloud ceilings were too low most all day for safe visual flight with a VIP on board. Here is a history of today’s weather at De Gaulle International.
They never stop freakin bitching
“What hasn’t Trump taken heat over?”
The press cares about this? The only people who do care are the same people who also don’t want Trump flying around in a helicopter (unless it’s marine one), endangering the only leader we’ve had in, what?, forty, sixty years?
“I wonder how much it would cost to bring EVERY one of them home and bury them on our soil. “
Why?
.
.
The plane was grounded....news is not mentioning this.
That’s been brought up twice in the past, first when De Gaulle wanted all American forces out of France in the early 60s, and more recently in relation to the Iraq War. Didn’t go over well with the French government or citizens either time.
That was made clear right away.....but of course the press is going to make issue...I’m also going to add that the list of dignitaries from around the world represented there doesn’t exactly make me comfortable.
Macron, Merkel, and Trudeau , The New Three Stooges.
Because France is unworthy of keeping our dead. And I found the answer: about $400 million.
Nattering nabobs of negativity.
The thought of our soldiers and sailors brought home and buried on their home soil is something to ponder but so many are spread throughout the world and buried at sea. It is probably best to realize our far reaching efforts at freedom for ourselves and others. Then get pissed off when anyone foreign or domestic try to stop us. We take an oath when we join. We leave the direct service to the USA. We never unswear the oath. IMO
Terrorists with Libyan-made MANPADS don’t give a hoot about those three dorks. If the US Secret Service says it ain’t secure, it ain’t secure.
As long as the graves are treated with respect, and maintained well it shouldn’t matter.
They are buried with the men with whom they fought, all together.
We still have Brits buried here since the Revolution.

Look, it would be great if he could make the visit on the 100th anniversary. But France is not the USA. A 60 minute drive would draw millions of dollars and hundreds if not a thousand or more people assigned to security alone. There are only so many routes, meaning, anyone with hate in their heart could figure out which roads the motorcade will travel - both directions.
And it would be a last minute change, calling up all the security and police forces at the last minute to secure the route is another logistical problem.
Bottom line is, you don’t want POTUS to spend 2 hours in a car, in a foreign country, on roads that everyone can set up on. Not just terrorists, but protesters and onlookers too. France is famous for its strikes - they shut down highways all the time.
Sorry Frum, you are bloviating and not thinking through the logistics and security concerns of a last minute change to drive POTUS for 2 hours through a foreign country.
What hasn’t Trump taken heat over?
_________
Yep.
Oh who cares. WWI was the stupid Eurotrash’s dumpster fire. Thank God we didn’t get dragged in until the end, and we STILL lost 116k men for that pointless war.
(((Frum)))
Does Frum have any credibility that makes him worth any attention at all? No, he doesn’t.
I’m glad he didn’t go. Lately, Trump has looked very tired to me. I don’t think any fatigue he may have affected his decision, but if he gets some well-earned rest as a result, that’s a good thing.
A speechwriter is an ‘official?’ Who knew?
