To them “provisional” means “in case we need more votes”. It’s ludicrous that there isn’t more technology and security involved. In some Mid-East and African countries they dye a voter’s finger in ink so that they cannot vote twice. Seems they have better security than we do.
When I went to vote the woman in line in front of me asked for a provisional ballot. This was 3PM so more than half the day was done. The woman checking names asked out loud to the other poll workers “what’s to stop someone from going from precinct to precinct and filling out provisional ballots many times?”. Indeed. They don’t even know the answer to that question.
But noooo... we don’t have any issues with fraud. /s
