Victor Davis Hanson: Macron Wants ‘European Union Army,’ Can’t Make NATO Payments
Breitbart ^ | Robert Kraychik

Posted on 11/13/2018 3:19:02 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Victor Davis Hanson told Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow on Monday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily that French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal for a European Union army is “absurd,” noting France’s failure to meet its financial commitments to NATO.

Hanson reflected on Macron’s Sunday remarks at the centennial commemoration of World War I’s armistice in Paris, France, where the French leader said, “Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism: Nationalism is treason.”

Hanson said, “I was kind of shocked, because here the host was taking the occasion to pose as Europe’s next leader by basically attacking not only Eastern European leaders, but Trump with his nationalist point, and then framing a hyper-fascist nationalist like Petain, who not only, you could argue about his behavior in World War I, good and bad, but he was the leader of French fascist nationalism in World War II, and yet Macron, historically illiterate, starts to praise him while he’s attacking Trump.”

They broke it, then they threatened to break us, we broke it more, we bought it, then we fixed it, then gave it back to these ingrates

Churchill was right, we should have divvied up the spoils

Hanson added, “It’s what French leaders always do when their popularity is down in the 20s, which is where Macron’s is.”

Just so, Macron is following the popular French pastime of disparaging the USofA and any non-LEFTist President. Trump horrifies them almost as much as Ronald Reagan did. They even called Bush'43 a 'cowboy' and nearly fell over in ecstasy when Obama became President.

Macron has replaced Obama as “the LOCAL JOKE” country leader on the international scene. Largely because O isn’t in office anymore. Would really be a hoot if these two morons were in office at the same time. 🤮

“...the U.S., with all its manufacturing capacity, didn’t contribute one tank or aircraft to WWI...”

The French only wanted our men with which to fill the gaps in their lines as their men were killed...and that our men were to fight until French leadership. Black Jack had a few choice words about that. The French were very slow to provide the PROMISED food, equipment, tanks, planes. Pershing kept our troops in camp for six months until the French supplies began to roll in.

Read THE ZIMMERMANN TELEGRAM, by Barbara Tuchman, for WWI info.

America’s big mistake in WWI was ever getting involved in the first place. Had we not, both sides would have been forced to reach a reasonable negotiated settlement that would not have set the stage for another world war in 20 years. America stepping in handed victory to the French whose vindictiveness and blatant hypocrisy made Hitler politically possible.

Oh and 117,000 American boys would not have been killed for nothing.

We reached that point arguably as far back as the 1980s - certainly by 1991.

Amen! It seems to me, a population exchange with Western Europe would make everybody a lot happier. We’ll send them all of our Gaia Worshiping Global Socialists. In return, we’ll take the few productive patriots who don’t want to see their daughters gang raped by roving bands of feral Muslims that are actually left over there.

Let them, no force them, to create their own EU army

It might shock them out of their nanny-statism, and then we can worry less about the Russian bogeyman.

Macron forgets that the cause of WWI was imperialism. The result was nationalism. The cause of WWII was imperialism (in the guise of national socialism, communism, militarism). So what does Macron want now? European imperialism with France and Germany in control of subject peoples on the periphery.

An All-European military of meaningful size will have the same problems that divided the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Constant games over influence, command, and especially delivering the funds to pay for the war. Is Macron relying on the Muslim influx to finish off whatever national spirit remains?

LOL - we all should have seen it - but only the great ones - men like Victor Davis Hanson - catch 'the obvious'... Macron’s a deadbeat - France is trying to welch on a debt...

Macron: Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism: Nationalism is treason.

Without the help of nationalists, Macron would be goose stepping.
