I’m sure the police and DA were convinced the kid was telling the truth, they’re not in the habit of going after retired firefighters.

Looks to me like this guy really screwed up and is darn lucky he missed the kid.

I looked the place up. "Rochester Hills" Oakland county Michigan is right outside of Detroit. Detroit is 82% black, and so I assume the prosecutors and jury were also black. I think they were projecting their belief in whites motivated by racism onto this guy, and wanted to make an example out of him.

I don't think the guy missed the kid. I don't think he was aiming at the kid. Hard to miss with a shotgun.

I can’t say whether the guy was aiming to hit the kid or firing a warning shot but he had the gun leveled when he fired, the muzzle was not elevated.

The guy is an idiot for even attempting to fire at the kid running away.

You can assume all you want.......I don't want to admonish you for your possible racist crap but Rochester Hills begins at least 15 miles north of Detroit and resides in Oakland Country, NOT Wayne.

And for the record, Oakland County is the most affluent county in the state of Michigan.........

While I will admit that the sentence was excessive, it doesn't discount the fact that the home owner was never threatened as evidenced by the video and his firing of his shotgun at a fleeing youth in a heavily populated neighborhood was clearly an ignorant violation of law........
