Great story. I believe the New Jersey standard is that a person is covered by the NJ Shield Law as a “journalist” as long as they are engaged in an activity that is aimed at disseminating information to the public in some manner (newspaper, TV, radio, web blog, standing on a street corner with a bullhorn, etc.). Is this true?

Pretty much, as there was one case denied but that entailed someone posting to a bulletin board forum and thus was not subject to the NJ Shield Law protections. Bottom line, if someone is making an effort at reporting news; it’s news. Everyone has similar rights and protections under the NJ Constitution. The right of reporting is not the exclusive domain of any “official” news organization.

The voter fraud case I reported and testified to in early 2014 via my local website dedicated to government and corruption recently saw several arrests and indictments with pleading guilty just last week:
