The Democrat House Majority - not as "neutered" as many let on about [vanity]
Self | 11/14/18 | fwdude

I'm hearing a lot of dismissal and reassurances of a hobbled Democratic House from a lot of Freepers and conservatives in general, but we aren't reading the entire picture.

Congress holds the purse strings, particularly the House. I can see must-pass appropriations being held hostage by a recalcitrant radical leftist majority unlike any we've seen yet. And then, with the help of a compliant leftist EneMedia, the left will somewhat successfully pin the blame for program shuttering at the feet of Republicans who refuse to pass their legislation through.

Dems are known for attaching their own agenda driven items to unrelated bills. This is how Obamacare was passed.

Huh?

All I’ve been seeing is a LOT of FR folks crying like b.tches about how powerful the dems will be.

They could be right.

But tally up the threads of panic compared to the threads of “don’t worry” and you will find the first is disproportionately higher.

And I understand the disillusionment and you folks who say they will be more powerful than some think are likely right.

But I don’t know anybody but Jesus who can go back in time, so WHAT DO WE DO NOW?

Perhaps I’ve been selectively reading FR threads dismissing the power the Dem House will have. But other forums are certainly not worried. Even one of my economics mentors Walter Williams suggests that the worst we can expect is gridlock.

What do “we” do now?

I’m not sure how “we” accomplish this, but the rampant election fraud MUST be addressed or we’ll never have anything approaching a fair election again. And I’m talking about THIS election. Trump needs to go after EVERY single instance of fraud with his DOJ. Every fraudulent vote nullifies a legitimately cast vote, essentially denying legitimate voters their right to vote and be counted.

That’s what I’m thinking.

And we know there are enough RINO’s left in the senate that will side with the democrats that some bad legislation will get through.

I predict Trump will be vetoing bigly for the next two years.

True but there isn’t a lot of “must-pass” spending legislation from a conservative viewpoint. Let them “shut down” the government, which doesn’t include “essential services”, which neatly approximate limited government.

seems Pres. Trump would have the final say.
I see the House attaching amendments to anything the Repubs want to accomplish.

I am hoping Pres. Trump makes great use of the veto to force an ownership 2/3 vote override.

What I think the reality will be is Pres. Trump will sign some stuff he doesn't want to get what he does want.

He also is not shy about E.O.s and proclamations.

A bad time to be sick of popcorn.

The military appropriations is always a big target of the left, which IS a conservative, constitutional concern. They’ll attach their full agenda to military funding bills.

Watch.

If they cause a shutdown with their tantrum, Trump will of course be blamed. I think Trump has the savvy to turn that around and put the blame squarely on the house dims. After all, they (dims) think a shutdown is the worst thing ever.

Shut down aren’t really shutdowns. I don’t care if they shut down a small portion of gubmint for two years. President Trump isn’t your average Republican. Look at what happened when the Rats shut down the gubmint last year. I expect more of the same.

True but there’s only so much they can do with that. The lame duck Congress will hopefully be smart and lock in funding as far into the future as possible.

Absolutely.

Especially the so-called "social issues" that Republicans of late have derisively dismissed. (all issues are social issues.)

I predicted this prior to the 2016 election, that if Trump won, he would probably be the president to sign into federal law the leftist ENDA, putting sexual freaks on the same level as race and religion.

I'm not walking back that prediction.

This is all true.

The RAT house will be worse than your worse nightmares.

BUT the hope is they will expose themselves to the votes and a lot of races won’t be close enough to cheat.

Also the senate is almost "as is" for the last session. We still have murkowski and collins as RINOs that are traditionally anti Trumpers.

There are several issues where the simple majority in the senate could allow house initiated legislation to pass. The only check and balance then is President Trump's veto pen.

They are people like we are.

They are not gods nor sent by him.

Plus they are crooked as hell, and have to keep their kooks in line.

We have plenty of options. The Dems lost everything in 2016, if they were like a lot of people on FR, then they should have dissolved as a party back then.

Think about it like a card game- you may have been dealt a lousy hand, but that doesn’t mean it is a losing hand. You can also get dealt a great hand, but that doesn’t guarantee it will be a winning hand. It all comes down to how they play the cards they are dealt. Trump is a good gamesman.

What bothers me more is how the deck is being stacked through voter fraud. The next two years might be played into a net win, but the long game will be lost if the Democrats are allowed to turn every close contest into a Democrat win.

I'm predicting two of the dullest years in Washington -- other than anything involving President Trump -- that you've seen in your lifetime.

Expect no Federal budget to be passed for two years, and for the government to be funded through a series of continuing resolutions. It's like 2011-2016 all over again.

Funny... “our” guys were impotent until they got both houses and presidency. Shocked to find Dems actually have power with a slim majority in one house.
