McCarthy defeats Jordan for House minority leader, as Liz Cheney joins GOP leadership

ep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., beat back a challenge from dark horse candidate, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Wednesday for the role of House Minority Leader, with Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., nabbing the title of GOP conference chairman.

The California lawmaker took a decisive victory against Jordan, bringing in 159 votes to the Ohio representative’s 43 votes. McCarthy was initially elected to the House in 2006 and has served as the House Majority Leader since 2014.

McCarthy "knows what he needs to do," said GOP Whip Steve Scalise, the Louisiana Republican who was gravely wounded in last year's congressional baseball practice shooting and unanimously won the No. 2 spot as minority whip.

Hysterical. Trying to justify him losing is silly. The members like McCarty better to be minority leader. It is that simple.

No, they like the special interest cash backing McCarthy better. Who was paying for a CA Congressman to carpet bomb Florida of all places with ads? What do these lobbyists expect in return? Inquiring minds want to know.

Liz Cheney, carpetbagging backstabber swamp creature.

Well, yeah, but she’s good on TV.

The Republican Steering Committee is the true ‘Leadership’ of the Caucus.
Usually their membership is a ‘secret’ from the public but I think the media will let their names out- in hopes to weaken them vis a vis the Dems.

They control appointments and legislation.
Control disbursement of donations.
They’re the ‘backroom boys’.

Usually, the worse of swampy pigs at the trough.
Let’s see if they’re desperate enough to do something useful or just fight Trump.

Remember? He was being challenged by conservatives. Raul Labrador was a candidate. When it became obvious that he couldn’t win and conservatives were keeping keep McCarthy out, they came up with Ryan as a compromise.

They didn’t want someone with a backbone. They wanted a Rodney King representative. Can’t we all just get along?

He has nothing to lose. After the way his own party has treated him, why shouldn’t he stick it to them?

You mentioned the RINOs calling for more fund raising. I voted Repub this time around, but didn’t donate anything (time or money) to sending these gutless Chamber of Commerce clowns back to office. They had everything laid at their feet when Trump was elected (in control of both Houses) and blew it. The joke is on us. I guess they’ll just have to live off PAC money.

You stated that Liz Cheney’s accomplishments included raising a family. That is indeed admirable. But let’s face it. She probably had extremely good household help to assist her in that. I saw her numerous times on Fox gifting us with her opinionated viewpoint. I’m sure she had to be gone from home and hearth quite frequently to keep up that schedule. And would we even know of her except for her last name? It seems that we only promote family heirs for political positions.

until we kick the tires and light the fires, you bet!

or was it slit the tires and set car fires... < / antifa >

I imagine Trump has a way to leverage that nearly 50 percent of the reps to do something... MORE than expected.

what CAN they do, that they have not tried yet? Oh I KNOW... start taking classes in triggering unlimited debates and How to bypass rules of parliamentary procedure... on minor “rabbit hole” technicalities.

what is fair for the goose... and all...

if this is, the case as you mention... NOW is the time to break out the leeches and do some healthful bloodletting.

metaphorically speaking.
UNDERMINE the rino collaborators until they are run out of office to be replaced by palpable conservatives.

And is Sarah Sanders not “gone from hearth and home” on a regular basis? and Kellyanne? And numerous other very accomplished women ...teachers, nurses, doctors, etc.? I don’t know what you are getting at.

“UNDERMINE the rino collaborators until they are run out of office to be replaced by palpable conservatives.”

The rinos and neverTrumpers comprise 90% of the party. You know, the same asshats that allowed and funded Obama’s fundamental transformation of America.

I wish we had that kind of time.

Flat-out lie: RINOs are globalist Neocons (Trotskyists).

The only thing they conserve is the New World Order for their masters.

Steve Scalise, the Louisiana Republican who was gravely wounded in last year’s congressional baseball practice shooting...

I’m sorry, it was NOT a baseball practice shooting,
it was an act of terror and an mass assassination attempt.
Yet here we see the media padding the commentary as only
it can.
