Beto had coattails and helped elect many liberal Democrat judges and ten or so new state representatives and two state senators. Cruz had no discernible coattails. Several other statewide races were about as close a Cruz’s total vote.

With most people I have talked to, it sadly was more of a referendum on Trump than it was for Cruz. They especially think the concept of a border wall is asinine. That's just what I have heard, and it was mostly from millennials.
