Are they being given 3 days to hand count all 8,300,000 votes or just the ones called “undervote” and “overvote”.

....the canvassing boards, which are allowed to enlist the help of volunteers, will try to determine how these voters intended to vote....

Total bullcrap. Now we have mind readers. I can guarantee you that this will almost surely result in Schumer's rubber stamp Bill Nelson gaining votes.

Why? Because the black population was very excited to vote for Gollum. They were NOT excited about Nelson. I am betting most of them went for ONE purpose to the polls: to elect the "first black governor". They found his name, checked it, and skedaddled. Many undoubtedly left the Senate race BLANK.

Now, through the magic divination of canvassing boards, those BLANK ballots will be "deemed" as votes for Nelson.

Thievery.

The Times is lying. We actually do know about how many undervotes that there are. Broward has the most. There is about a 30K undervote in Broward. The consensus is that most of it can be attributed to the wacky ballot design by the incompetent Clown Snipes.

The undervote was uniform countywide when you take into account the fact that there were uncontested Congressional races in some precincts.

Moreover, the undervote in Broward probably affected Scott and Nelson somewhat equally.

DeSantis received 10K more votes than Scott. Gillum received 10K more votes than Nelson.

Palm Beach had about 12K Undervotes. Miami Dade had about 10K.

There are approximately 45K undervotes scattered around the rest of the State.

Most of the undervotes will be true undervotes. These happen in every election.

“...the canvassing boards...will try to determine how these voters intended to vote.”

I thought that kind of stupidity, utter stupidity, would have been resolved after the election in 2000. We all remember seeing shots of those fools holding a ballot up in the air and claiming to read the voter’s mind.

How is it possible to divine voter intent from an unmarked ballot. Sometimes when I vote, if I don’t know who to vote for, I don’t mark anything by that selection. That is my intent.

How dumb I was to assign logical behavior to politicians, especially the kind that are elected in Florida.

Rick Scott had eight years to prepare for Broward County.

Hand recount? Well, that’s it folks. All the Dems will win.

In my Hillsborough county precint the poll watchers halted vote tallying 1 hr. before closing to transfer ballots from the voting box to a suitcase. The poll worker would take small batches of ballots, place them on the floor, look at them, arrainge them, then put that small batch (~20) in the suitcase. IOW she was taking a sampling of the ballots. The ballot box was much larger than the suitcase and wasn’t even 1/2 full when they paused the tallying for their transfer. When they were done the suitcase wasn’t 3/4s full. So they were sampling ballots and moving them an hour before closing.

This was Hillsborough county. I have ZERO faith in chain of custody. If the paper ballots are counted they will probably show a huge difference from the ones which were filled out and electronically counted Nov 6.

I understand over votes being a problem. Voter screwed up. But how can any ballot have an under-vote? The voter simply didn’t want to vote in that particular race. It isn’t a flaw in a ballot.

An easy fix to that. Every ballot issue should list all the names, the “yes or no” options, etc. Then at the bottom, add one more option for every issue: “I choose not to vote”.

The order gives canvassing boards in the state's 67 counties three days to pore over thousands of ballots that were rejected by machines because of "overvotes" — a voter appears to have chosen more than one candidate in a race — or "undervotes," in which a voter appears to have skipped a race altogether. With the help of state guidelines, the canvassing boards, which are allowed to enlist the help of volunteers, will try to determine how these voters intended to vote

Gee, what could go wrong???

Overvotes belong in the moron pile, and undervotes could be just because people didn't like the choices.
