Judge Grants CNN’s Motion to Restore Jim Acosta’s White House Press Pass

WASHINGTON—A federal judge granted an emergency motion to restore the White House press credential of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta—a victory for the network in a closely watched press-freedom case.

The lawsuit could determine whether the government can ban individual reporters from public buildings.

District Judge Timothy Kelly, who was appointed to the bench by President Trump, granted CNN’s request for a restraining order temporarily restoring Mr. Acosta’s press access to the White House while the case proceeds.

Lawyers for Mr. Acosta, the network’s chief White House correspondent, argued that the unusual revocation of a reporter’s press pass by the White House last week necessitated emergency action.

I still like my idea of giving Acosta a throne to sit in, front and center, above all the other press, and constantly mocking him by asking for permission to speak, and for his permission to let other press speak. ... 119 posted on ‎11‎/‎16‎/‎2018‎ ‎9‎:‎56‎:‎10‎ ‎AM by z3n

I think President Trump should just quit holding formal press conferences until CNN withdraws Acosta.

Screw the liberal ‘elite’ judge... what an idiot.

He's a Trump appointee and a member of the Federalist Society....

All White House press passes should be revoked immediately.

The White House should announce that a new procedure will be established for the granting of passes and that each person granted a pass will have to agree to rules of decorum while on the grounds and while participating in press briefings. They should be put on notice and be required to agree that by accepting the press pass that a violation of the rules will result in their pass being revoked as the sole discretion of the press secretary.

No due process?

How much due process is there when a judge controls his court room?

Like with contempt, where a judge is a direct witness to the events, the people deciding to boot Acosta have direct access to the evidence.

Orderliness can be technologically imposed to shut down the screaming of questions out of order and talking over the President as well as other reporters. Take away the opportunity for Acosta-style grandstanding. The mic can also be shut down remotely rather than relying upon an intern to pass a cordless mic from reporter to reporter.

Truthfully, though, there is no reason to continue to even provide the opportunity for the press to act in this manner. Why is a mic in front of the President required for them to be an ass? It’s not. So, go be an ass out on the sidewalk along Pennsylvania Avenue. They’ve proved themselves incapable of a civil exchange or to abide by the simplest rules of decorum.

"Government lawyers acknowledged in court they knew of no other situation where the White House had revoked a press pass UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES."
What? I can't think of a time in recent memory, when a White House press reporter assaulted a White House intern.

Due process assumes a right is in question of being taken away.

A WH press pass is a privilege, not a right.

This is one stupid judge, or a compromised one.

Why is Acosta more privileged than the hundreds of alternative media reporters (with much larger audiences than Acosta or CNN) who whose requests for permanent White House passes were denied?

Absolutely ridiculous— The President and more specifically his Secret Service decide who has access to the WH... for ANY reason.

Per Andrew Jackson: Jackson wrote in a letter to John Coffee, “...the decision of the Supreme Court has fell still born, and they find that they cannot coerce Georgia to yield to its mandate,” meaning the Court’s opinion was moot because it had no power to enforce its edict (not being a legislative body.

Good luck with any “judge” trying to run the country— it won’t happen, because it has... no teeth.

I think they should revoke all passes as a “reset” and then redistribute accordingly. Project Veritas definitely needs one.

But this may be a win for Trump. Just let Acosta back in but do one of three things:

1. Never call on him.
2. Never let him hold the mic.
3. Let him hold the mic and then rant incessantly, but turn the mic off in the broadcast if he doesn’t shut up.

Trump should just remain silent and let Acosta ramble on and on.
The rest of the press will soon grow tired of it.

Trump has let the Deep State induce him to appoint Deep State judges who will not protect our freedoms but who will protect lawlessness that the Deep State supports.

This piece of crap judge should be removed asap.

Put the mic for any reporter... on a BOOM, and not allow any ONE Of them to touch the microphone or hold it. The Soundman is under direction of the WH Press Office, with a feed from the President who can say-— “CUT the mic”... and Boom... it’s done.

Also.... no more video allowed by any news service. They must take the feed from the WH Official Video recording.
Problem solved— and amplified if they aholes try to go around this— further strengthening President’s point about FAKE news.

This is ludicrous. Anyone with a press pass has a RIGHT to get into the WH? Really?

Does this mean that anyone can walk into the judges courtroom and start spouting off about the judge’s idiotic rulings?

‘Due process’?

‘Due’ has a meaning.

Did anyone at the White House see what Acosta did? Was it inappropriate even before pushing the interns arm away?

Inappropriate behavior exacerbated by two further escalations, directly witnessed. Not a lot of process required there for giving Acosta a timeout.

Reporters are allowed to karate chop interns and refuse to give up their microphone.

This judge is no better than a Klintoon/Zero judge. Remove him.
