California Gov. Jerry Brown’s decision to veto a 2016 bipartisan bill aimed at mitigating wildfire risks from power lines and utility equipment has become the focus of critics as fires rage across the state.
Wildfires have scorched more than 221,000 acres across California since Thursday, and Brown’s critics are pointing to the two-year-old veto as news reports suggest power lines may have sparked the deadliest wildfire in California’s history.
“He has done nothing to harden those assets,” state Sen. John Moorlach, a Republican, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Edison just recently sent out a notice that everyone’s rates were going to go up substantially to cover new infrastructure improvements to prevent fires. They don’t want the fires, But they don’t want to pay more either.

PG&E has gone Fascist as in Crony Capitalist, signing on to Climate change, Carbon sequestration, credits and taxes, Green Energy everything, and has beed rewarded with control of the Public Utilities Commission, immunity from responsibility for previous gas explosions and all fires, whopping rate increases and huge taxpayer subsidies.
Whopping, laundered DemoRat campaign contributions are the norm.

Been using controlled back burning here in Fla. the lighning capitol of the US if not the world. Wildfires are fairly rare here....

Forest mismanagement for the past 100 years has made what would have naturally been a fairly minor forest fire of a few hundred acres that would have burned only underbrush and saplings to many-thousand acre wildfires that kill entire forests.

I’m fine with Californians thinking like that but I don’t want my tax dollars bailing them out. The victims shouldn’t be bailed out because their collective view is that anything Gaia does must be good.
