I was 15 years old when Star Wars came out in 1977 and I have yet to see that movie. I'm actually afraid to watch it now, seeing how so many are obsessed over it.

One of my favorite TV shows was the Sopranos. But I never had the urge to vacation at a hotel in New Jersey. Not even if the hotel featured a Bada-Bing and an Italian restaurant featuring Artie Bucco as chef.

The first Star Wars movie is worth seeing once.

I was much older, the first 2 that came out were OK, but in the 3rd, when they introduced the mini-wookies (or whatever they actually were called), they began to lose me.

That became final when Jar-Jar Binks appeared on the screen. I turned off that movie, never finished it, and never watched another.

When Star Wars came out it was ground breaking.

What was cutting edge movie tech then, is now surpassed by 2-3 generations and common place today.

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind came out that year
Star Trek the motion picture came out 2 years later

Battlestar Galactica came out on tv the following year

There have been what, 3 Star Trek series on TV since then?

Anything Sci Fi since Star Wars is riding on Star Wars coat tails.

It would be hard to have the same awe today, that Star Wars had then.

Everything about the movie was epic.
Including the music.

Many movies since have copied the epic music soundtrack.
Movies like Raiders Of The Lost Ark or Jurassic Park

Unless you’ve lived in a bubble, completely blocked off from movies or tv over the last 40 years, you’ve been influenced.

In ‘77 there was NOTHING to influence a persons experience.

If you ever do decide to watch Star Wars, make sure you watch the original version, not the special edition. You can watch the original version at this link: https://archive.org/details/StarWars1977_201707

It’s almost impossible to see the original 1977 version anymore. All the current re-issues have added contemporary special effects.
