Dad drowned autistic sons to claim insurance money: prosecutors

A heartless dad purposely drowned his two sons, who both had severe autism, by driving his car off a California pier — so he could cash in on a $6 million insurance policy, prosecutors said.

Ali Elmezayen, 44, allegedly hatched the sick scheme two years before stomping on the gas of his Honda and sending it crashing into the Port of Los Angeles on April 9, 2015.

“Witnesses heard the tires of the car screech loudly and saw the car accelerate before it flew off the edge of the wharf, crashed into the water and immediately sunk,” FBI agent Matthew Parker wrote in an affidavit in support of Elmezayen’s arrest for insurance fraud last week.

Federal investigators found that Elmezayen spent about a quarter of his reported $24,000 salary on a $6 million insurance policy for himself, his longtime partner Rabab Diab and three sons.

He also allegedly repeatedly called the insurance company to ensure that they wouldn’t automatically probe a claim made more than two years after the policy was written, prosecutors said.

Class act...

“Elmezayen claimed to investigators that he may have accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. He sued the city, Honda and Jiffy Lube for negligence”

Rule #1...if you kill someone for the life insurance don't be calling the insurance company every 5 minutes once you succeed.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Too quick & ‘easy’. Lock/strap him in a car, roll him down a ramp into a body of water deeper than the car & drown him .... same as he did to his kids. He’ll have a few seconds to think about it while it’s happening, too.

Killed his son you say. Heck in Iceland they’ve eliminated Down’s syndrome by just aborting all of them. Such a despicable act to drown a son and yet a whole nation is killing off every infant via abortion. That is hideous.

I’m surprised he could buy that much insurance on a kids life. I think 100k is a lot for a kid.

That works as well. But since it’s California, you would never get through the environmental permit process...

The purpose of life insurance is to replace the breadwinner’s income should he/she die.

The only reason to insure a child for more than funeral expenses is to cash in if they die.

When my kids were young I insured them for two reasons. Mostly because if they died I would be hard pressed to go to work. Second was to insure they could have some insurance as an adult if they developed health problems.

If you have ever had the misfortune of burying a child, like my family has, one that accumulated catastrophic medical debt as they fought to live, you would not question a hefty life insurance policy on a newborn. I set up substantial whole life policies on all 3 of my children at birth.

Now, they have a cash value to them that my children can either build on or cash out.

Remembering Eric James, born 3-12-1993, died 9-13-1993.
